The IRS mission is to provide America’s taxpayers top-quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and enforce the law with integrity and fairness to all. The public expects the IRS to perform that role by helping them understand tax law that Congress passes so they can meet their tax obligations. At the same time, the Federal tax agency should ensure that the small number of people who are not willing to comply pay their fair share of taxes.
